PAS 5213 Lifelong Learning, Integrity in Practice, Outreach & Service, Nurturing Communities VI
This LION course is the 6thof 6 LION courses and integrates didactic learning experiences with clinical exposures and the summative assessment process for all graduating students. Exposures align physician assistant (PA) students continued patient contact, and interprofessional education opportunities that continue during the clinical year. Students have already developed a thesis or paper for publication and have submitted it for faculty evaluation and submission for publication. This course allows students to now demonstrate their competence in the acquisition of the program learning outcomes that are essential for entry level practice. During LION VI the student demonstrate cognitive skills through standardized testing with the PACKRAT and End of Curriculum written examinations in addition to performance of psychomotor skills, interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic imaging tests, basic patient care procedures, diagnostic test and imaging interpretations, standardized patient case scenarios, and the delivery of patient education, treatment plans, and integration of holistic patient care. This summative process is primarily comprised of OSCE stations, standardized patients, and case scenarios that evaluate clinical and technical skills, clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, medical knowledge, and professional behaviors.
Prerequisite
Admission to the Physician Assistant Program and Successful Completion of all didactic and clinical courses to date.
