NUR 357 A Conceptual Approach to Assessment and

Pathophysiological concepts with associatedassessment techniques and findings are presented. Review of normal anatomy and physiology isfoundational and emphasized. The student isexpected to build upon existing assessment skillsto synthesize presenting signs and symptoms anddiagnostic interpretations linking to specificdisease processes. The concepts and systemspresented include: the cell and cellularenvironment, genetics and genomics, stress andadaptation, pain, nutrition, theneurologic/cognitive system, and sleep. Assignments challenge the student to criticallyanalyze the pathophysiological process and thepatient presentation.
