NUR 449 A Conceptual Approach to the Assessment
Pathophysiological concepts with associatedassessment techniques and findings are presented. Review of normal anatomy and physiology isfoundational and emphasized. The student isexpected to build upon existing assessment skillsto synthesize presenting signs and symptoms anddiagnostic interpretations linking to specificdisease processes with incorporation of conceptsand systems presented in part I. The conceptsand systems presented include: Inflammation andimmunity, wound healing, Cardiovascular andpulmonary systems, Coagulation and hemostasis,the renal system, and edema. Assignmentschallenge the student to critically think througha case study linking pathophysiological conceptsto assessment findings and diagnostics in acomprehensive health history and physicalexamination.
