Theories and concepts related to acute, complex�physiological health alterations are presented�within the framework of the nursing process. �Effective decision-making and communication are�emphasized in the adaptation of clients to�life-threatening and acute health alterations�within a rapidly changing health care�environment. Legal and ethical dilemmas are�examined as students explore the professional�nursing role in critical care.
