This course introduces critical theories and practical skills relevant to the study of public and applied liberal arts.

This course applies the intellectual and analytical traditions of the liberal arts to address pressing concerns in the public sphere and in civic life. Prerequisites: LAR 200.

This course explores the craft of narrative for the public good, with an emphasis on non-fiction storytelling.

Intensive course that leverages real-world work experience to develop in-demand skills including data analytics, digital marketing, or coding for web or data. Recommended: Successful completion of at least one online college-level course or completion of 26 credit hours.

This course examines diverse approaches to unstructured, complicated, or "wicked" problems facing today's world. May be offered as Writing Intensive. Recommended: LAR 200, LAR 201, or LAR 250.

Consideration of subjects in the liberal arts not listed in regular departmental or program offerings. This course may be offered in an online format. Prerequisite: ENG 201 with a grade of C or better.

Capstone seminar for the Public and Applied Liberal Arts major. Focused on a collaborative, integrative, problem-based, public-facing research project delivered in multiple formats. May be offered as Writing Intensive. Prerequisites: LAR 200, LAR 201, LAR 302; signed major in Public and Applied Liberal Arts. Recommended: LAR 495.

Required internship in an applied field for the Public and Applied Liberal Arts major. Prerequisites: LAR 200, LAR 201, LAR 250, LAR 302. Recommended: LAR 401.
