Graduate Catalog 2023-2024

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Profile of the graduate's competencies

The Master of Science (MS) and Master of Engineering (ME) programs in Mechanical Engineering are designed to develop professional skills that allow students to:

Knowledge

  1. Demonstrate understanding of specialty areas (Energy or Aerospace) within Mechanical Engineering.

Abilities

  1. Solve complex engineering problems in one of the two specialties applying principles of engineering, science and mathematics.

  2. Apply analysis and synthesis in the research or design process to find a solution to a complex engineering problem that satisfies a set of requirements.

  3. Communicate effectively orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.

Attitudes

  1. Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations to make informed judgments that consider the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and social context.

  2. Recognize the continuous need for the acquisition of new knowledge, as well as the location, evaluation, integration and application of these in an appropriate manner.
