COUN 560 Introduction to School Counseling

This course provides an overview of the comprehensive school counseling model, delivery, management, and accountability systems. Students engage in study and discussion of the evolving role of the school counselor in a PK-12 setting. Students develop a professional growth plan. Topics include: American School Counselors Association (ASCA) model, guidance, curriculum, system support, and school counselor roles and responsibilities, and ethics. Methods of instruction primarily feature: in- class face-to-face learning, with some additional asynchronous online work. Course Entry Requirement: Admission to the MAC Program.
