COUN 528 Professional Counseling Orientation

This graduate-level course is an advanced seminar on professional issues in counseling. Topics addressed include professional counselor identity, professional counselor organizations, professional counselor advocacy and legislation, counselor licensure and credentials, national counseling licensure examinations, counselor supervision, counselor entrepreneurship and the business of private practice, and developing a specialization. This course equips students to launch their counseling careers post-graduation by developing their professional identities and understandings of the requirements of professional practice. Methods of instruction primarily feature in-class face-to-face learning, with some asynchronous online activities.Course Entry Requirement: Admission to MAC program.
