COUN 519 Foundations of Mental Health Services
This course explores professional and social justice issues in counseling. It addresses history, roles, functions, ethical and legal issues, and the trends affecting the field and practice of counseling in community mental health agency settings. Students examine the internal and external workings of community mental health agencies through an in-depth case study. Students learn the processes of conducting a needs assessment for clients and families coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, to address systemic barriers to service delivery. Methods of instruction solely feature in-class face-to-face learning.Course Entry Requirement: Enrolled in MAC Program
