MHC 5900 Advanced Study: Mental Health Counseling

This course is developed to allow students the opportunity to engage in independent research on a special topic developed in collaboration with a department faculty member. Each independent research topic is approved by the Program Director in advance and supervised by an assigned faculty member. The purpose of this course is for the student to develop skills related to research and to gain expertise in a special topic. The assigned faculty member will assess the student's ability to critically think, conduct comprehensive literature reviews, develop appropriate methodologies and accurately conceptualize the special topic. Objectives and assignments will be determined collaboratively by the student and supervising faculty member. Student and faculty member will meet on a weekly basis to discuss and assess research progress. Student will provide evidence of completed assignments in a timely manner. Requires Associate Dean and Director approval.
