IS 363 Ecotourism in Ecuador
This course introduces students to the history,concepts, principles, marketing, planning andmanagement of ecotourism activities anddevelopment, which promote cultural andenvironmental awareness and local economicbenefits. The geographic focus will be on theplaces and people of Ecuador. This course willexplore the forces and processes of social changein communities given the rise of nature basedtravel. We will consider the processes of howcommunities involved in service sector enterprisesrelate to the general concepts of sustainability,including environmental, social and economicimpacts. This course explores the concept ofsustainability/ sustainable development, with anemphasis on community-based sustainabledevelopment.
