A study of the people and the countries in theregion. The course will examine the historicalbackground, contemporary domestic and foreignaffairs, and cultural characteristics of theregion. This area study includes geographicalsettings; social, political, and economicdevelopment and institutions; religious beliefs,artistic forms, and literary expressions.
