GEOG 320 Green Criminology

Green criminology has emerged in recent years fromissues relating to environmental and social harm. The study of environmental harm and 'crimesagainst nature' has become an increasingly populararea of research amongst criminologists. Some ofthe topics addressed in this class include:climate change and social conflict; threats tobiodiversity; pollution and toxic waste;environmental victims, environmental regulation,law enforcement and courts; environmental forensicstudies; environmental crime prevention. The goalof this course is to inspire students to researchand critique environmental crimes and harms. Thiscourse will provide a platform to developinnovative approaches to negotiating thislandscape in ways that lead to solutions.
