MECN 4121 Design of Machine Elements I
Analysis of solid mechanic concepts such as loads, stress and deformations in the design of machine components and elastic methods for the determination of deflections in beams and buckling of columns. Includes the study of the theories of fault and safety factors. Discussion of impact loads, fatigue, corrosion and wear-down in mechanical components.
