DPT 820 Community Health & Wellness

This course examines wellness as it relates to physical therapy. Whereas physical therapists traditionally provide rehabilitative care to patients who have a disease, condition, or injury, increasingly more therapists are spending treatment time devoted to wellness-related care. This course will emphasize three dimensions of wellness: physical, mental, and social wellness in the context of physical therapy. Wellness will also be approached from our traditional paradigm of rehabilitative care. During the course, students are expected to demonstrate competency in the professional behaviors necessary for becoming an effective physical therapist.
