BS in Clinical Laboratory Science

The Bachelor of Science BS degree with an area of study in Clinical Laboratory Science is limited to certified medical laboratory technologists possessing a required ASCP or AMT; MLT or MT; or NCA: CLS or CLT. Students must present a copy of the original certificate and current renewal card. Students whose medical laboratory technology training was not completed in a college credit setting may earn credits through Prior Learning Assessment PLA. A total of 18 Area of Study credits must be from 300/400 level courses. The BS degree with an area of study in Clinical Laboratory Science is a 120-credit program.

Note

  • How Students Earn Credit in the Area of Study: Students whose medical laboratory technology training was not completed in a college credit setting should have no difficulty earning credits by prior learning assessment PLA for their areas of study, assuming current or recent employment using a variety of laboratory methods.
  • A total of 18 area of study credits must be from courses at the 300 level or above.

The inclusion of similar courses must be reviewed by the evaluation team. Students must submit their program plan for review to ensure that course selection is appropriate for the degree.
