Dual Enrollment

The new Dual Enrollment combined Accel, HOPE Grant Dual Enrollment, and old Dual Enrollment programs for Georgia public or private high schools, and Home study programs within the State of Georgia operated in accordance with O.C.G.A. 20-2-690(c). The new Dual Enrollment Program Goals are to simplify three programs into one program; expand Dual Enrollment opportunities, and full-time or part-time attendance.

Any Georgia high school student who is entering tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade at an eligible high school may be able to enroll as a Dual Enrollment student. Students may be eligible to take college courses in 9th grade, provided they meet admissions requirements—they are ineligible to use Dual Enrollment Grant funding until 10th grade. A student must be admitted and classified as a Dual Enrollment student by an eligible postsecondary institution. Full-time enrollment is not a requirement. Students who enroll in a TCSG college or other Georgia colleges or universities in the Dual Enrollment program receive college credit hours while simultaneously meeting their high school graduation or Home Study completion requirements as Dual Credit Enrollment students. Dual Enrollment applicants must gain regular admissions status to enroll at the College. High school students whose test scores place them in learning support are not eligible to enroll in Dual Enrollment courses at the College.

  • Dual Enrollment students in tenth grade are able to take occupational and/or academic core courses if they have made a 1200 SAT or 26 ACT in a single test administration.  
  • Dual Enrollment students in tenth grade are able to take occupational courses and Dual Enrollment students in eleventh and twelfth grade are able to take occupational and/or academic core courses if they meet the admissions criteria described below.

To participate in Dual Enrollment at SCTC, applicants must:

  1. Students may be eligible to take college courses in 9th grade, provided they meet admissions requirements—they are ineligible to use Dual Enrollment Grant funding until 10th grade.
  2. To use Dual Enrollment Grant funding, participants must be a Georgia high school student in entering or in 10th-12th grade in an eligible high school;
  3. Complete and submit the College’s application for admission;
  4. Students must meet SAT, ACT, PSAT, PACT, NEXT-GENERATION ACCUPLACER, or high school GPA minimum requirements;
  5. Students must complete and submit to their high school any paperwork that is required by the secondary system, including the GA DOE Student Participation Agreement;
  6. Gain regular admissions status to enroll at the College;
  7. Attend New Student Orientation prior to first semester at the College;
  8. Students must complete a Dual Enrollment funding application each academic year at www.gafutures.org.
