SM 499 Intercollegiate Athletics Adminsitration

This course will examine differences, similarities and analyze the bylaws policies and procedures of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and other small college intercollegiate athletics associations. Students will review special cases to develop a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, USCAA and NCCAA to understand their missions, differences and how each organization functions. Students will become familiar with the unique search and hiring process in intercollegiate athletics and participate in a mock search committee and role play an interview for a position in intercollegiate athletics. Each student will prepare an interview portfolio including a resume, letter of interest and reference list.
