The purpose of this course is to explore theimpact of health promotion and disease preventionon the health care delivery system. Diversity ofsubcultural influences on health and wellness areexplored. The impact of ethnicity, age, race andgender on development and maintenance ofhealthy lifestyles, self-care, and risk reductionis emphasized. This course focuses on the study ofthe community as a partner in health care,epidemiology, and theoretical frameworks for thestudy of community as client, advanced practiceroles in population-based nursing, and publicpolicy implications for identified healthneeds of populations.
