MSC 610 Ocean & Coastal Environ Law

Course will examine a number of emerging ocean andcoastal policy issues. Among the policy issues arethose relating to oil, gas, and alternative energyfacilities and equipment in coastal or oceanwaters, the privatization of public waters, theimpact of rising sea levels upon ocean beaches andestuarine shorelines, beach nourishment andshoreline protection, development setback lines,the use of ocean outfalls to dispose ofwastewater, and the future role of the CoastalResources Commission. Course will examine theseand other emerging policy issues and the governingstate and federal legal regime.
