FIN 537 Advanced Coporate Finance

This course offers an overview of finance fromthe perspective of the corporate financialmanager. Beginning with the premise that thegoal of management is to increase the value ofthe firm, students will walk through the keydecisions facing the manager-the investment,financing and risk management functions thatcontribute to shareholder value. The investment side will include portfolio selection and management decisions, capital budgeting underrish and M&A. The financing side comprisesdecisions about capital structure-how much debt,relative to equity, is right for a particular firm - as well as decisions about the optimalmixture of debt and equity froma macro perpective.How companies return value to shareholders viathe divident and other "payback" strategies willalso be examined.
