International Student Advising

In order to comply with U.S. Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) F-1 visa regulations, HSU will conduct international student advising for international students by meeting with a Designated School Official (DSO) in the HSU Office of Global Engagement. International student advising is conducted in addition to and after the academic advising process to choose classes each semester. International students will need to schedule an appointment with a DSO after academic advising through the HSU Office of Global Engagement.

During international student advising, a DSO will review the immigration status, immigration documents, anticipated full-time course enrollment, anticipated program completion dates, as well as review and provide advising for any additional immigration or international student specific service needs (IE: OPT, CPT, Travel, Health Insurance, Campus Employment, etc.). As an international student, registration for classes at HSU is not permitted until international student advising with a DSO is completed. Once international student advising has been completed and any required documents are collected and approved, the Global Engagement Hold will be lifted and the international student can register for classes.

Additional international student advising can be scheduled with a DSO as needed and by appointment request from the student. For questions or to schedule international student advising, please contact the HSU Office of Global Engagement.
