Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental
Hardin-Simmons University has for many years provided course work necessary for preparing men and women for careers in medicine and dentistry. Hardin-Simmons University students perform admirably in our nation’s medical and dental schools. Many pre-medical and pre-dental students major in biochemistry, biology, or chemistry although it is possible to major in other areas. Each student is counseled individually with regard to needs and interests. The following outline of courses is a typical requirement for students applying to medical or dental schools.
Most pre-medical and pre-dental students will complete at least 124 credits, including the above courses, and obtain a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree. Exceptional pre-medical and pre-dental students may elect to follow a three-year degree plan consisting of at least 94 credits at HSU plus the successful completion of the first year in an accredited United States medical or dental school.
