The school is named for David and Jacque Holland of Houston, long-time friends and benefactors of Hardin-Simmons University. Dr. Holland, a noted geologist, attended Hardin-Simmons University and in 1999, he established the Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics through a generous endowment. The school offers courses and programs of study designed to provide a strong foundation of scientific education and research in several fields encompassing undergraduate, graduate, and professional training. The university foundational curriculum requirements in science can be achieved through a variety of offerings in astronomy, biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, mathematics, physical science, physics and science education. The Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics offers undergraduate majors and minors in biochemistry and molecular biology, biology, chemistry, communication sciences and disorders, environmental science, geology, mathematics, physics and public health. Graduate studies within the school provide for a master’s degree in physician assistant studies and the doctorate in physical therapy (DPT). The school offers specialized training in a variety of pre-professional programs and in specific major and minor fields appropriate to the following bachelor’s degrees:
