COHD 6363 School Counseling
A preparatory course for graduates who will be serving as counselors in an educational setting at elementary and secondary levels. The course will keep students abreast of current educational standards and legislative policies in the State of Texas, ethical practices for school counselors and issues facing schools today. It will provide strategies applicable to working with students needing support with academic difficulties, behavioral problems, emotional issues or special needs. It will also foster professional practices for working in collaboration with parents, faculty, and school administration to promote student success. The course, an elective, and the program provides the academic coursework for certification as a school counselor in the State of Texas.
