Equity, Inclusion, & Justice Studies Minor (EIJS)
The minor in Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Studies (EIJS) is an interdisciplinary minor intended to complement progress toward completion of a bachelor’s degree in the student’s major field of study. The minor is designed to encourage students to apply practices that promote equity and to consider and understand the importance of diversity and the value of inclusive groups, institutions, and communities. Courses contributing to the EIJS minor cover topics on race, sex, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, class, mental and physical ability, indigeneity, language, age, faith, and/or gender identity.

This list does not include one-semester sections designed to contribute to the EIJS minor. All courses contributing to this minor will carry the EIJS attribute.
NOTE: The Department of Literature and Languages has oversight of the EIJS minor. Additional courses may be granted an attribute to fulfill credit hours for this minor. If you believe your course contributes to the minor (either for one semester or as an established addition to the list above), email a proposal for designation to the department’s director of the minor (Tawny LeBouef Tullia). Course substitutions for the minor require prior approval by the department’s director of the minor.

The Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Studies minor is intended to operate apart from the Global Studies and the Women’s and Gender Studies minors. A course taken as part of the requirements for the EIJS minor cannot also count toward either the Global Studies or Women’s and Gender Studies minors.
CRITERIA FOR EARNING THE MINOR
In order to earn this minor, a student will complete the following:
• 18 credit hours
• In those 18 hours, courses must be chosen from 3 or more disciplines (prefixes)
• At least 1 course completed toward the minor must have a Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) Attribute
