THE-305 BLACK LIBERATION & THE BLACK CHURCH

This course examines the radical legacy of the Black Church and the origins of Liberation Theology as significant contributors to the historical, social-political, and theological resilience of people of African descent living in the United States of America. The course is designed to move students through a narrative map of Black Theology and religious experiences, beginning with Africans' early religious presence in North America through Africans' antebellum enslavement to contemporary challenges of living in America while being Black in the twenty-first century.
