THE-613 CHRISTIAN ANTHROPOLOGY

This course will explore contemporary perspectives on the seminal question: What does it mean to be human in light of Christian Scripture and tradition? Particular consideration will be given to contemporary theological efforts to retrieve the classic anthropological themes of creation in the image of God, created male and female, human development and freedom, the structure of moral evil and human suffering, original sin, grace, Incarnation, Trinitarian communion, salvation/divinization, the function of the church in the process of redemption, forgiveness and reconciliation, death, the resurrection of the body and the end of all things.
