BI 106 General Biology I
This course gives the student an introduction to the study of life with emphasis on basic concepts such as evolution and its main driving mechanism, natural selection, and the diversity of life. The principal features of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells will be studied along with their chemical components - polysaccharides, fatty acids, nucleic acids and proteins. Respiration and photosynthesis will be studied. Lecture three hours per week and laboratory one day per week for two hours.
