NSG 494 Special Topics in Nursing IV - Palliative Care
This course will review pain pathophysiology leading to a better understanding of pain treatment options in nursing practice. An in-depth presentation of pain assessment tools will be introduced for infants, children, adults, and special needs populations. A thorough overview of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical therapies will be discussed as they apply to nursing practice and patient advocacy. Palliative and hospice care paradigms will be presented and applied to nursing care for the patient with a chronic and life-limiting illness with an emphasis on the family-centered care model.
