NSG 493 Special Topics in Nursing III - Substance Disorders in Health Care
This course will review Substance Use Disorder and Addiction. This course will cover categories of substance abuse, physiological and psychological effects of alcohol and other drugs, the disease concept of addiction, as well as the family and social dimensions of substance abuse. Treatment options and various rehabilitation programs available to combat drug abuse will be explored. Homework exercises, personal reflections of nursing articles, case studies, videos, and other types of assignments are designed to support learning by helping students understand the material and apply it to real world situations.
