Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree

Southern Arkansas University Tech offers five (5) Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees which are described below.

  •  Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Business Administration is designed for students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in fields such as Management, Accounting, or Marketing. Through articulation agreements with four-year institutions, this degree supports a smooth transfer into baccalaureate programs. It also equips graduates with foundational knowledge and skills for entry-level employment in various business-related roles.
  • Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Criminal Justice provides students with a foundational understanding of the American criminal justice system, including law enforcement, courts, and corrections. The program is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field. Coursework emphasizes critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and an understanding of legal procedures and criminal behavior. Graduates are also prepared for entry-level employment opportunities in law enforcement, corrections, security, or related public service careers.
  • Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Data Science is designed to ensure maximum transferability to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. It also equips students with essential entry-level skills for employment in the growing field of data science.
  • Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Education is designed to provide a seamless transfer into teacher education baccalaureate programs. Students can pursue pathways such as Elementary Education, Special Education, Mid-Level Education, and Computer Science in Business at Henderson State University, or Middle School Education and K–12 Physical Education and Health at Southern Arkansas University. This degree also meets the educational requirements for paraprofessional roles in many Arkansas public schools. Additionally, it is structured for transfer to other four-year Education programs across the state. Students are encouraged to work closely with their advisor to select elective courses that align with their intended transfer institution and major.
  • Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Fire Science Management is designed to maximize transfer opportunities into advanced degree programs. It is intended for current and aspiring fire officers who wish to further their education. Core Fire Science Management courses are offered onsite at the Arkansas Fire Training Academy (AFTA) or at other AFTA-approved locations, providing convenient options for working professionals. General Education requirements can be completed online or through traditional classroom instruction, offering students flexible pathways to earn their degree.

The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits and the equitable treatment in the application of credits for the admissions and degree requirements. Course transferability is not guaranteed for courses listed in ACTS as “NO COMPARABLE COURSE.” See individual course descriptions in the catalog for applicable ACTS courses.
