Emphasis is placed on modern emergency management and planning techniques as currently practiced by the public and private sectors. The ability to perform essential work in a disaster requires unique skills and knowledge of emergency management and planning. These skills are covered in depth. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recognizes this program as one of the pioneering programs in the country. The emergency management and planning courses are available over the Internet, providing flexibility and avoiding lengthy and costly travel. It is highly recommended that anyone new to the field of Emergency Management start by taking EMP 101 Emergency Management and EMP 109 Incident Command Systems.
