Graduates of the program will:
- Practice music therapy at an advanced level promoting healing through music experiences and therapeutic relationship in accordance with AMTA advanced competencies.
- Understand clinical needs from various theoretical perspectives, clinical models, and through work in a disciplinary team.
- Have successful experiences providing music therapy services with a wide range of clients across a variety of clinical and educational settings.
- Utilize and apply advanced music psychotherapy skills in clinical practice.
- Integrate and practice ongoing professional and personal development.
- Adhere to ethical standards of practice in music therapy.
- Understand and conduct ethical research with the goal of producing scholarly writing and presentations in music therapy.
- Demonstrate high level of musicianship and ability to improvise in a variety of styles. Play comprehensive repertoire in a variety of styles, showing proficiency on voice, guitar, and piano.
