COM 327 Podcast and Radio Production
This course provides a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to the dynamic fields of podcasting and radio broadcasting. Students will learn the complete production process by developing, producing, and marketing their own original audio programs. The curriculum covers industry standards in hosting and announcing, scriptwriting, audio recording and editing, program production, and audience engagement. Students will be encouraged to integrate their creative and aesthetic ideas while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines, including FCC regulations and digital media best practices. From a biblical worldview, this course will explore the power of audio media to serve the community, build listener relationships, and communicate truth. A range of employment and ministry opportunities will be examined, from non-profit and commercial broadcasting to independent podcasting and missions. (3 credits)
