This course will examine equity-centered assessment in higher education settings. Students will learn about assessment practices, design assessments, and apply equity-centered assessment methods.

The course will examine the theory and research of training and development. Students will conduct and evaluate training and development programs. This course may be offered in an online format.

Study of the history and organization of community colleges and how these institutions fit within the larger context of higher education institutions.

Students will learn to use a variety of culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate high-impact teaching strategies to engage adult students. This course may be offered in an online format. Recommended: HED 680.

A planned learning experience gained through first-hand observations and operational responsibilities under the direct supervision of a practicing higher education leader. CR/NC only. Prerequisites: Regular admission to the MA in Higher Education Administration program in the Department of Educational Leadership. Completion of at least 9 core credits in the program. Approval of practicum application.

Under the direct supervision of a practicing teaching mentor, student will develop skills applicable to college and adult learning. CR/NC only.  Prerequisites: Permission of instructor and approval of practicum application.
