SSC 310 Navigating Complex Topics: Affective-Based Approaches for Contentious Issues and Traumatic Pasts

This course examines the histories of difficult histories and traumatic pasts and explores trauma-informed and affective practices for the teaching and discussion methods for each. Prerequisites: Signed Social Studies 5-12 major or Secondary Social Studies 5-9, 7-12 minor; SSC 301 with a C+ or better. Corequisites: SSC 350; SSC 370.

SSC 370 Secondary Social Studies: Pre-Student Teaching Seminar

This seminar engages social studies students enrolled in pre-student teaching in applying, extending, and reflecting on concepts, questions, theories, and models of teaching. CR/NC only. Prerequisites: SSC 301 with a C+ or better; declared secondary social studies (5-12) major or minor. Corequisite: SSC 310; SSC 350.
