PMSB 9000 Clinical Skills Y3

This course prepares students to transition from pre-clerkship to the clerkship years of their podiatric medical education. The students will learn how to use electronic health record systems to document patient health information and encounter, order laboratory and imaging studies and review the results. The students will be re-introduced to the concepts of professionalism and patient privacy. They will need to complete each clinical facility’s required training in HIPAA and OSHA compliance prior to starting their clinical rotations. Students will be trained and become certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support for healthcare professionals. Third year podiatric students will be given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with surgical instrumentation and practice procedural skills in sterile technique, gowning and gloving, and suturing.
