Jazz Studies, Minor
Program Overview
The School of Music offers a minor in Jazz Studies to BM in Music and BM in Performance majors who choose to complete a structured study of jazz that includes instrumental/vocal techniques, and historical, stylistic, and pedagogical issues in jazz music. The minor will produce highly competent jazz performers and educators. As jazz ensembles continue to proliferate in secondary and higher education, the minor will add value to the music and performance majors. This minor is restricted to students enrolled in the BM in Music and BM in Performance majors. This minor is not a substitute for teacher certification.
