MUSI 6348 History of American Music Education

This course examines the history of music education in the United States and how it relates to current educational practice in grades K-12 educational settings, including influences leading to its beginnings in the Boston Public School System in the 1830s, social influences on music education, the development of professional organizations and the expanding music curriculum.
