Failure Program Expulsion
If you fail to meet the course objectives, policies, and procedures outlined in the classroom and this handbook, you may face failure or program expulsion. Any failed course(s) must be repeated before proceeding to the next course outlined in your program of study. Refer to the Repeat Policy in the University Catalog for more information on the number of allowable attempts and failure of co-requisite project courses. A Code of Conduct violation will be filed by the immersion faculty for any action that results in immersion failure. Immersion experience failure shall result in a failure of the corequisite project course. Examples of immersion experience failure, program expulsion, or Code of Conduct violation actions, include but are not limited to:
• Unsafe Practice Immersion practice (if your immersion experience includes some type of Practice Immersion practice), which includes remaining in immersion experience without approved rotation or in a not compliant status
• Repeat tardiness for scheduled immersion meetings or experiences.
• Unexcused immersion absence or abandonment
• HIPAA violation
• Violation of professional and behavioral standards as outlined in the DNP Immersion Handbook, DNP Program Roadmap Handbook, USU Catalog and USU Code of Conduct.
• Performing skills or interventions outside your scope of practice
• Displaying hostility or using confrontational words or body language
• Compromising United States University’s relationship with any Project Mentor or Immersion site
• Compromising safety in any form
• Plagiarism or unethical conduct resulting in Code of Conduct Violations
• Practice Immersion practice fraud or forgery
• Failure to report a felony or misdemeanor
In the event a student is found to have violated the University Code of Conduct, is placed on Practice Immersion probation with restriction and/or jeopardized a Practice Immersion placement, the Program Director, OFE Director and/or designee reserves the right to require the student to identify Practice Immersion placements independently. This is in addition to any sanctions the student may realize as part of the Code of Conduct proceedings or otherwise.
