ANS 215 Beef/Dairy Industries

Introduction to beef and dairy industries; history, current industry status, and demonstration and practice of basic husbandry skills. Prerequisite: ANS 121 Offered: Winter Addendum: This course is intended to articulate with Oregon State University (OSU) as ANS 215. At the completion of this course, students should have a basic understanding of beef and dairy production. Students will be exposed to production methods and issues related to the beef and dairy industries in the US. Issues will relate to sustainability, economics, and product quality. An overview of major scientific disciplines that relate to production, including nutrition, genetics, reproduction, and animal welfare will be presented.
