About Accelerated Courses

While exploring opportunities to expand Competency Based Education offerings, TESU identified a pathway to create a competency‑based learning option by adapting existing Guided Study courses into an accelerated 4‑week format. This format is designed for undergraduate students who already have familiarity with the subject matter, allowing them to progress through coursework more efficiently. Accelerated courses do not include assignment due dates or late‑penalty policies; students may complete work at their own pace within the 4‑week session. If additional time is needed, a no‑cost course extension is available.

Using only the accelerated courses, students can now earn up to 36 credits (12 courses) per year by taking one course in each session. This allows students to progress in their degree programs quickly and graduate sooner than with our 12-week terms. This initiative provides savings as students can take advantage of the Full time Flat Rate Tuition without having to take 9 credits or more at the same time.
