Humanities

Humanities offers students a wide perspective on topics in a variety of humanistic disciplines, which usually include fine and performing arts, languages, literature, history, philosophy, and religion.

Studying the humanities encourages a better understanding of others and helps individuals think critically when given complex and often subjective information.

One-half of the total credit hours required in the Humanities major must be taken at the College. In addition, students must receive a final grade of “C” or better in all required courses within the Humanities major.

Courses applied toward this major cannot be applied to Woods Core requirements.

Program Learning Outcomes

1.            Apply concepts, use vocabulary, and develop skills of the humanities to communicate at an appropriate intellectual level. (HU-200)

2.            Identify and evaluate human values and ethical positions from a variety of contexts. (HU-400)

3.            Reflect on their responsibilities to others in local, national and global communities. (HU-400)

4.            Analyze texts, visual images, and artifacts in critical writings. (HU-400)
