TA 213 Introduction to Theatre

This course introduces students to many facets of theatre and fosters an appreciation for theatre as an art form and as entertainment in the U.S. and around the world. Students will examine the role of the audience, the playwright, the actor, the director, and the designer in theatrical productions and the evolution of their roles through history. A survey of historic and contemporary forms of Western and Eastern theatre will be included. This course explores theatre as a fundamental aspect of liberal arts and a reflection of aesthetic and cultural trends through time. Students will also view and critique a variety of theatrical performances.
