Admission to Post Master's Advanced Certificate Programs
Requirements for admission to the Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate Programs include:
- Master’s Degree in nursing from a professionally accredited program. (Applicants from non-accredited programs may be considered for admission on an individual basis.)
- Graduate minimum GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Current New York State license registration certificate. If an APRN, NYS NP license certificate and proof of National Board Certification.
- Applicants to an APRN program (NP and CNS programs) who already hold a NYS or CNS license are required to submit their NYS NP/CNS license registration certificate.
- Applicants to an APRN program (NP and CNS programs) who already hold a NYS or CNS license are required to submit National Board Certification Certificate.
- Applicants with an Advanced Practice Degree (M/Nursing Education, MS/Leadership or MS Nursing Administration with Informatics) may apply to an APRN program (NP or CNS).
- One-year recent clinical experience in chosen specialty area.
- Three letters of recommendation from the applicant's clinical managers (Physician, Nurse Educator, Administrator, APRN) that attest to that attest to the applicant's clinical competency.
- A personal interview.
- Evidence of the successful completion of a basic physical assessment course or its C.E. equivalent, as a prerequisite to Advanced Physical Assessment coursework.
- Health and professional requirements as determined by the nursing program. (See CastleBranch in the Graduate Nursing Handbook.)
- A completed application.
- Students must take and pass a Basic Physical Assessment Competency Exam prior to beginning Advanced Physical Assessment coursework.
- A current curriculum vitae.
- FOR AGACNP Program:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2
- Applicants currently working in patient settings as a nurse practitioner preferred.
- For PMHNP Program:
- Prior psychiatric nursing care preferred.
