NMD 2550 Introduction to Game Studies
This course provides students with a critical introduction to games studies. Students will play and watch games to practice analyzing and assessing them from historical, cultural, and theoretical perspectives. Students will learn about histories of gaming, practices of play, gamer culture, narratives, genre, race, gender, class and violence. Finally, students will be exposed to team-based and solo game design to develop a critical understanding of concepts and skills developed throughout the course.
