HIS 3400 History and Politics of the Middle East

This course examines the history and politics of the Arab countries of the Middle East, as well as Israel, Turkey and Iran with major emphasis on the period since the First World War. Topics included are: colonialism and nationalism, the creation and transformation of the modern states, politics of oil, regional wars and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
