EDU 2290 Strategies for All Learners in the Diverse Classroom
(formerly EDU 3290)
This course provides the teacher candidate with an overview of the knowledge, dispositions and skills necessary for formulating behavioral objectives, planning integrated lessons, assessing student progress, developing questioning skills and managing a classroom of diverse learners. A two-hour weekly observation in a high needs diverse school setting will be required. This field experience will provide the teacher candidate with opportunities to observe, participate and reflect upon various roles of a classroom teacher. New York State Standards for Instruction and the Common Core State Standards will be analyzed. This course also helps prepare teacher candidates for the edTPA elementary and secondary assessments by analyzing and applying the tasks of: (1) Planning for Instruction and Assessment, (2) Instructing and Engaging Students in Learning and (3) Assessing Student Learning.
