SWK 2100 Careers in Social Work

(formerly SWK 210)

An overview of the professional of social work designed for students considering social work as a career. The core values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of a person, importance of human relationships, integrity and competence will be presented as a foundation for understanding the profession's mission and purpose. Multiple sources of knowledge, ethical standards, practice levels and fields of practice will be explored in depth. Speakers from various fields of practice will provide an overview of working in their particular area of practice. Students will have opportunities to engage in interactive in-class and internet-based learning experiences. This course does not apply to Social Work major requirements.
